Feedback is the critical ingredient in any teaching and learning interaction, but many teachers don't really understand the concept. When a teacher uses feedback correctly, they will be more effective in the classroom. Feedback should not be viewed as praise, grading or evaluation. Feedback will boost achievement and help students develop a lifelong learning skill in everything they do.

In an effort to increase professional learning opportunities for members, MSTA is pleased to pilot a book study this fall. Feedback: The Hinge That Joins Teaching & Learning, is a great book with a wealth of practical examples and success stories from classroom teachers. This book will be a valuable resource for ALL teachers.

"Jane Pollock shows us that feedback is not the destination on our educational journey, but it is the vehicle that moves students toward clear learning goals and drives instructional planning for teachers." -- Bill Hayes, Principal, Jamestown, OH!"

"Captivating and sensible, Feedback offers realistic information about how to motivate the unmotivated learner in your classroom and improve student achievement!" -- Dana Ziegler, Primary teacher, Baldwinsville, NY

Join us for a convenient and inexpensive way to grow professionally. Even though, Feedback: The Hinge That Joins Teaching and Learning, is written as a manual for teachers to help students; teachers will find it useful in interactions with fellow colleagues. Yes, including your principal.

The book contains six chapters, therefore one chapter per week will be covered. The book has reflective questions included in each chapter. Participants will receive weekly reminders prior to each session with reading assignments & discussion questions. A certificate or letter of completion will be given if needed.
