The program addresses the following six (6) Missouri Teacher Development System (MTDS) domains:
- Classroom Manager and Community Builder
- Instructional Designer and Facilitator of Student Thinking and Learning
- Professional
- Reflective Learner
WHY MUST I TAKE A BTAP?
Section 168.400 RSMo and section 168.021.1 of Missouri CSR 20-400.385 require every new educator to participate in a two-year Beginning Teacher Assistance Program (BTAP) before upgrading their teaching certificate.
Strafford Onsite BTAP is the foundation of MSTA's Beginning Teacher Assistance Program and fulfills Quarter 1, Year 1 of DESE's two-year Beginning Teacher Assistance Program certification requirement. After completing your BTAP training, the remaining three quarters of Year 1 allow participants the flexibility to tailor their ongoing support opportunities that best fit their needs, learning style, and schedule.
